Tottenham fans want Davies axed after Watford nightmare

Loads of Tottenham fans have been reacting to the defeat at Watford, and they all agree it’s time for Danny Rose to get his spot back.

There’s no question about it, Ben Davies was sensational last season. The Welsh international grabbed two goals and six assists from the left flank, as Rose missed the majority of the season.

However, a fully fit and firing Rose is one of the league’s best full backs, and fans suspect it may be time for the Englishman to reclaim his throne after Sunday’s horror show.

Davies wasn’t the only one to perform badly in the 2-1 defeat, with goals from Troy Deeney and Craig Cathcart giving the Hornets all three points, but the Welshman is taking loads of flak on Twitter.

Davies attempted six crosses, none of which were successful, and was one of only two outfield players to start the match for Spurs and not win a tackle, the other being Harry Kane.

Rose wasn’t perfect on his return to action against Manchester United either, but fans are furious with Davies’ Watford display, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

After latest blow January move makes sense for Liverpool youngster

Liverpool have had a pretty superb start to the season as the Reds have taken the positivity from their summer transfer dealings into the first four games of the season and so far look incredibly good.

Possessing one of the best starting XI’s in the league, Klopp is now armed with the best squad the club have had in years.

The trio of Firmino, Mane and Salah have the ability to open up any side in Europe, the only worry is whether Klopp can keep them fit. If the any one of the trio gets injured, Klopp needs a player who can step in and contribute to the side.

After his starring role in England’s Under-17 World Cup winning side, Rhian Brewster was expected to get a chance in the first-team this season but thanks to an ankle injury, he has been forced to sit on the sidelines.

The youngster has had a further setback according to the Mirror and with that in mind, Klopp needs to consider sending the young forward out on loan in January.

The Breakdown

A prolific scorer for the England under-17 squad, Brewster was the top scorer during the side’s successful campaign in 2017 and had attracted interest from Borussia Monchengladbach before signing a new long-term deal for Liverpool.

Had it not been for his most recent setback, the youngster would’ve likely featured for the club this season but now Klopp must look to loan him out in January in order to gain some first-team experience.

Leeds fans react as Mateusz Klich turns out for Poland

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich started for Poland in their 1-1 draw with Italy in the UEFA Nations League on Friday night.

Klich was selected in the middle of the park, and played 55 minutes for a Poland team that took the lead in the first half before Chelsea midfielder Jorginho levelled for Italy late on.

The 6ft ace has been outstanding for Leeds in the early stages of the 2018-19 campaign, scoring three times in six Championship appearances.

The 28-year-old struggled at Leeds last term following a move from FC Twente, and ended the campaign on loan with FC Utretcht.

The Pole returned to Elland Road this summer, however, and has played a key role in Marcelo Bielsa’s team storming to the top of the Championship table.

Leeds fans reacted to Ezgjan Alioski’s strike for Macedonia on Thursday night, and have now taken to social media to hail Klich for his positive performance against Italy.

Unbeatable: This should be Liverpool’s lethal starting XI under Klopp in 5 years time

Liverpool’s team is impressing at the moment, and that’s no surprise. Jurgen Klopp has built a tremendous team with a fantastic mix of defence and attack and youth and experience, and that bodes well for their title hopes this season. However, what should really worry rivals is the potential team that Jurgen Klopp could call on in a few years.

Not only is Liverpool’s squad fantastic, there is also more young players than many other teams, meaning that the Reds are only going to get better for the next few years at the very least.

Sure, in five years time, some of Liverpool’s current crop of players may be past their best, but there are a few on the production line and that means that Klopp always has someone new to turn to. Indeed, you could even argue that Liverpool’s potential team in five years is even better than the one available to him right now.

But what could that team potentially look like?

Fortunately, between the sticks, Liverpool shouldn’t have anything to worry about for the next few years. Alisson has come in and has, for the most part, looked pretty good. It’s important to note that he’s just 25-years-old, and so he’s going to continue developing for the next 3 or 4 years at least, and only then will he be at his peak. The prospect of him getting even better is a wonderful one for Liverpool.

In the defence, Klopp has curated a young quartet, and provided that everything goes well, they could still be around in 5 years. Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be 29 and 24 respectively, and that means that they’ll both be enjoying the best periods in their careers. For Liverpool, then, that’s not an area that they need to worry about. Joe Gomez has emerged as a great option this season, and at 26-years-old in five years, his best years are ahead of him, too. Virgil van Dijk would be a senior member of the defence at 32-years-old, but that hasn’t stopped the likes of John Terry and others over the years. He’s fit and healthy, and so he will bring some much-needed experience.

In the midfield, new duo Naby Keita and Fabinho have been brought in with an eye to the future, and you’d expect Klopp to build the team around them going forward. They could be joined by Roberto Firmino. Firmino is now a forward, but he’ll be 31-years-old in five years, and so by that point, he may be more suited to a deeper role, like Wayne Rooney at Man Utd. His passing range and technique make him a prime candidate for this position anyway, and so it could be a perfect fit.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Mohamed Salah is still at the club in 5 years, given how good he is, and he’ll no doubt be continuing to fire at 31-years-old. He’s got tremendous technical ability which should help counteract any loss in pace. Sadio Mane, meanwhile, is so heavily reliant on his pace that he may not be so fortunate. He may lose that and lose a part of his game as a result. In Ben Woodburn, though, Liverpool would have a perfect solution. He’s still a teenager, and he’s impressed for club and country in recent years.

Leading the line could be young Rhian Brewster. Brewster is undoubtedly one of Europe’s brightest young talents, and he has made headlines over the years for his lethal goalscoring ability. If he continues to develop, he’s a surefire Liverpool star.

Sky Sports pundit criticises West Ham’s deal for Jack Wilshere

West Ham made a pretty poor start to the season as they slumped to four defeats in their first four league games of the season but following the international break, the Hammers beat Everton and most recently held Man U to a draw.

Over the summer, West Ham spent heavily as they looked to rejuvenate a squad that underachieved massively last year. The east London club broke their transfer record twice in the transfer window and also signed free agent Jack Wilshere.

The former Arsenal man missed the club’s last two games and coincidentally the Hammers looked much better as Manuel Pellegrini opted to use a 4-3-3 formation. With Declan Rice at the base, and Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble either side of him, the young midfielder was given adequate protection and provided the team with a strong base to attack from.

Following the draw, Sky Sport’s pundit, Tony Cascarino spoke of his surprise at West Ham for signing Jack Wilshere and labelled him as a “vanity signing”.

The Breakdown

Although West Ham have improved over the last two games, it’s still too early to say that the Hammers have turned the corner. Moreover, it’s unfair to criticise Wilshere when for most of the early part of the season he was not only playing in a team whereby Manuel Pellegrini hadn’t discovered his best XI but also out of a position.

While it remains to be seen where Wilshere will be played in the future, it’s too early to write him off just because West Ham have finally managed to pick up some points.

Liverpool fans are spot on: Landing Aaron Ramsey could prove to be a masterstroke

Liverpool supporters have been reasonably satisfied in recent times despite seeing their side’s 100% start to the Premier League season come to an end on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their meeting with in-form Chelsea having won each of their opening six league games of the season, yet just a few days earlier having tasted defeat to Maurizio Sarri’s side in the Carabao Cup. And the Reds looked on course for successive defeats when Eden Hazard gave the hosts the lead at Stamford Bridge, only for Daniel Sturridge to produce a moment of brilliance in added time to secure a 1-1 draw for the visitors, a result which saw them slip to second place in the Premier League behind champions Manchester City.

Nonetheless, there have been many satisfied Liverpudlians up and down the country in recent times, several of whom have taken to Twitter in recent times to comment on the future of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, with many believing that their side should go after the Wales international.

And with his contract up at the end of the season, those Liverpool fans are absolutely right to suggest Klopp should seek to land the 27-year-old, as the addition of the £110,000-a-week ace (as per Spotrac) could prove to be a masterstroke.

Ultimately, reports surfaced last week suggesting that there was no new contract offer on the table for Ramsey at the Emirates Stadium, thus suggesting that the midfielder will be on his way out of the club come the summer on a free transfer.

Yet this all comes after the 27-year-old won the club’s Player of the Season award back in May after his mightily impressive season in North London, in which the Welshman scored 11 goals and laid on 12 assists to help the club to a sixth place finish in the Premier League table, and indeed the last four of the Europa League.

And with a few other campaigns in which Ramsey has reached double figures in terms of goals, it’s clear that he has genuine pedigree at Premier League level and as such could be a huge asset to several sides in the top tier, not least a Liverpool team seeking to mount title challenges for the next few years.

Manager Klopp added Naby Keita and Fabinho to his squad during the summer in a bid to bolster his midfield ranks, and while the former has performed solidly so far, the latter endured a very testing debut against Chelsea in the week to suggest that he still has some way to go before being at the level required.

And with Adam Lallana’s injury troubles clearly restricting him in the last few years, alongside the long-term absence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Klopp could well eye up further strength in that midfield area – strength Ramsey would certainly bring.

The 27-year-old has played in a more central, deeper role during his time at Arsenal as well as out wide and indeed in the number ten position behind the front man, thus underlining his capabilities to do whatever job is asked of him in the team.

Above all though, the Wales star would bring even greater quality in the ball in the final third of the pitch, and in a Liverpool side seeking to go on and win major honours in the coming years under Klopp, he could be an asset – leaving Arsenal has done Oxlade-Chamberlain the world of good, it could prove to be similar for Ramsey.

And if the 27-year-old can more consistency produce his best form under Klopp at Anfield, the Reds would have certainly pulled off a transfer masterstroke by bringing him to Merseyside.

Arsenal fans are loving Alex Iwobi’s recent run of form

[ad_pod ]

He might not be a regular starter in the first team but Alex Iwobi is certainly impressing when he does get his chance to feature for the team.

Arsenal fans have showed their appreciation for the Nigerian’s solid impact he made when he came on from the bench again against Watford on Saturday with the score goalless, with the Gunners going on to claim a 2-0 win at the Emirates much to the relief of those who used their Paddy Power promo code on the match in north London.

Iwobi replaced Aaron Ramsey in the 63rd minute and brought some much-needed energy to the team who at that time was struggling to create chances and were being outplayed by the Hornets. The 22-year-old made a similar impact in last weekend’s match against Everton when he replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, posing a real attacking threat when going forward.

Some of the club’s fans feel he has done enough to earn a place in the starting team and would like to see him start more than in just Europa League and Carabao Cup matches.

Here is some of their Twitter reaction:

Liverpool’s defence is getting better but there’s always room for Malang Sarr

Dejan Lovren faces a real battle to regain his place in the Liverpool starting eleven.

The Croatian defender was a key player for Jurgen Klopp during Liverpool’s journey to the Champions League final last season. Lovren also reached the World Cup final with Croatia and was expected to take his place next to Virgil van Dijk in the Liverpool defence. However, the emergence of Joe Gomez has plunged his future into doubt.

Gomez was given a chance to impress in pre-season and made the position his own when Lovren missed the start of the campaign through injury. The England international has looked assured at the back and has struck up a wonderful relationship with Virgil van Dijk. It seems for the foreseeable future that Lovren will have to settle for a backup role.

Should the former Southampton man decide to leave, Liverpool should make a move for Nice defender – Malang Sarr. Valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the Frenchman joined his boyhood club at the age of six and quickly progressed through their youth ranks; making his senior debut at the age of 17. Sarr has reportedly been courted by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea in the past.

Sarr is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet, completing 90% of his passes in Ligue 1 last season (WhoScored). Naturally, the 19-year-old is still inexperienced but learning under Klopp as well as being tutored by the likes of van Dijk could do wonders for his development. The France youth international has displayed maturity beyond his years in the past and could be an important rotation option at Anfield.

Contracted until 2021, prising Sarr from his hometown club could prove to be costly. However, Liverpool would be landing one of the most promising youngsters in world football if they bring him to Merseyside.

Revealed: 97% of West Brom fans want youngster Edwards considered as Phillips backup

A huge majority of the West Brom fans that voted in our poll want youngster Kyle Edwards to be considered as the backup to Matt Phillips at right wing-back after the game against Reading on the weekend was completely changed following his introduction.

Tyrone Mears has been covering for Phillips recently as the Scottish international has missed the last three games with a muscle strain and it is not known when he will be back, although the Baggies will be hoping that he is at least available for the bench after the international break.

Phillips has started the season brilliantly in his new position of right wing-back under boss Darren Moore, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 10 appearances throughout all competitions, and the West Midlands side have missed him recently.

Summer signing Mears is now 35-years-old and understandably struggled when asked to cover the whole right-hand side of the pitch. Against Reading on the weekend though, 20-year-old Kyle Edwards was brought on in the second half with the scores at 1-1 and the final score ended up being 4-1 to the Baggies.

Now, 97 per cent of those that answered our poll want him to be the backup to Phillips rather than Mears. Check out the full results below.

Opinion: Rangers should make an ambitious play for Moreno

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool are expected to allow Alberto Moreno to leave for free next summer, and Steven Gerrard should look to work his magic again to bring the flying Spaniard to Ibrox.

What’s the story?

According to Neil Jones from GOAL.com, Liverpool will allow Moreno’s contract to expire next summer.

With less than 12 months left on his current deal, many Reds’ fans expected a new deal for the 26 year-old, but the report claims academy product Adam Lewis will be promoted to the first team instead.

While wages may be a stumbling block, the speedy left back has been warming the bench for nearly 12 months now, and the promise of regular European football under a Liverpool legend may just be enough to convince him to join Gerrard’s revolution.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”307232″ player=”12034″ title=”Rafa’s Pub Facts Germany Hit New Low & Jadon Sancho Makes Us Feel Old”]

A left-sided Tavernier?

Rangers signed Jon Flanagan from Anfield this summer, but signing Moreno would be a huge upgrade. The Sevilla academy product has four Spain caps to his name, and won the Europa League with his hometown club in 2014.

This is not to say Gerrard would no longer have a use for Flanagan, as the Englishman’s ability to play on either flank would be a huge boost for squad depth.

However, Moreno’s pace, ability on the ball, rocket left foot and tireless work rate would basically give the Gers another James Tavernier on the opposite side. Borna Barisic would also put up quite the fight for that left back spot, but Moreno could also be used further forward due to his pace, so there could certainly be room for both of them.

Fans may have doubts over Moreno’s defensive ability, but it feels harsh to judge a young defender who was introduced to English football in a dysfunctional defence alongside the likes of Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho.

Flanagan may be a fan favourite at Ibrox for his toughness and passion, but signing Moreno would simply be too good of an opportunity to pass up, and he would immediately compete with Barisic for that spot on the left flank.

So, Rangers fans, do you think Gerrard should make a play for Moreno? Could he pull it off? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
