Jared Leto and Jodie Turner mix with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 'star-studded' night as big names watch Christian Pulisic play vital role in AC Milan win against Napoli

AC Milan took to social media to share a picture of actors Jared Leto and Jodie Turner posing with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Hollywood duo attended Milan’s game against Napoli as part of the promotion for their upcoming movie. It was a star-studded night that ended in delight for the Rossoneri, who claimed all three points against Napoli and moved to the top of the table.

Christian Pulisic and Alexis Saelemaekers were on target for Milan in the first half, giving them a 2-0 lead at the break. A red card to Pervis Estupinan allowed Napoli a way back into the game, with Kevin De Bruyne converting the resulting penalty to make it 2-1 and offer a glimmer of hope. However, the substitution of De Bruyne, who was visibly frustrated by the decision, along with Milan’s resolute defending, ensured the Rossoneri held their lead and secured all three points.

Up next for Milan? Serie A showdown against Juventus

Milan will travel to the Allianz Stadium to face Igor Tudor's Juventus on Sunday in another top-of-the-table clash in Serie A.

Siraj after his best IPL performance: 'The body is fresh'

He picked 4 for 17 against Gujarat Titans, his best IPL spell

ESPNcricinfo staff06-Apr-2025Gujarat Titans fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has said the break he got after India’s tour of Australia has helped him come back refreshed for IPL 2025.”When I had a rest, I was working a lot on my bowling, my fitness and my mentality,” Siraj said after taking 4 for 17 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, his best figures in the IPL. “The body is fresh, so I am really enjoying my bowling. The ball is coming out of my hand much better.”Siraj was India’s second highest wicket-taker in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but was subsequently dropped from their Champions Trophy squad. He has, however, made a strong start in the IPL and is currently the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the league – nine wickets in four innings at a strike rate of 10.66 and an economy of 7.75.While Siraj has found movement with the new ball, he has also been effective at the death. He’s already taken three wickets in four innings at the death this season; he had five in IPL 2024.Siraj said the IPL allowing saliva to be used on the ball once again – it has been banned in international cricket ever since the Covid pandemic – had made a difference in getting the ball to tail into the batters late in the innings. On Sunday, he dismissed Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma in the powerplay before getting rid of Aniket Verma and Simarjeet Singh in the 19th over.”If the ball tails in a bit, it is a wicket,” Siraj said. “When there is no saliva, the ball comes onto the bat easily and makes it easy for the batters. This rule makes it much better for the bowlers.”A little bit of tail in and the chances for lbw and bowled increase. The wicket is slow, I tried to swing it a little at the start, but it did not happen. The more you attack the stumps, the better it is.”

MI vs KKR: Ashwani Kumar takes four to demolish KKR for 116 on IPL debut

Ashwani Kumar became the first Indian bowler, and sixth overall, to pick up four or more wickets on IPL debut and on the back of his performance Mumbai Indians wrapped up Kolkata Knight Riders for 116 in their first home game of IPL 2025.The 23-year-old left-arm seamer from Punjab tripled his career tally of wickets – from two to six – over the course of one evening. He dismissed the KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane with his first ball. He took down Rinku Singh and Andre Russell. This league does not present many higher quality of wickets. The most impressive thing about Kumar was how hard he was to line up. He had an orthodox bowling action. His speeds were largely in the early to mid 130kph range. Those are the kind of bowlers that get smashed around in the IPL. But try as they might, KKR were never able to do it. Kumar came to prominence because of his performances in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 trophy last year where he displayed an affinity for the death overs. He didn’t really bowl in that phase of the innings against KKR but he did show why he could find success in high-pressure situations. It was his control of length.Rinku tried to take him down, but one ball after coming down the track and hitting him for four, he was caught on the deep-point boundary. Kumar pulled his length back to surprise the batter. Russell tried to take him down, but one ball after clearing his front leg and smacking him through the line, he was beaten by a bouncer and then knocked over by a 140kph good length delivery that surprised the batter again.Mumbai are almost surely looking at their first win of IPL 2025 after losing their first two games. KKR, meanwhile, were left wondering what had gone wrong. They were put in to bat and they seemed very conscious of putting up a par-plus total, their batters going on the attack even though they lost Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock in the first two overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi looked good for his 26 off 16 but he fell immediately after the powerplay. That left KKR five down and forced them to bring in Manish Pandey as an Impact Player, which meant they will be going into the bowling innings short of options. The move didn’t work with Pandey falling for 19 off 14.

West Ham now intensify contact to sign "phenomenal" £9m Tottenham target

West Ham United have now intensified contact to sign a “phenomenal” player, who is also being targeted by rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

West Ham keen on attacking midfielder amid Paqueta uncertainty

There have been widespread reports that West Ham could now be willing to cash-in on Lucas Paqueta this summer, should they receive an offer of £60m, and Tottenham have now joined the race for the Brazilian’s signature.

Indeed, with Spurs missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, they could now look to raid their London rivals once again, having already signed Mohammed Kudus earlier in the transfer window.

The Hammers have a big decision to make when it comes to Paqueta’s future, having stuck by the 27-year-old during the investigation into spot-fixing allegations, which he has now been cleared of.

However, during that time, the 55-time Brazil international hasn’t exactly been at his best, failing to kick on last season after impressing in his opening two campaigns at the London Stadium.

With Paqueta’s future up in the air, West Ham are now stepping up their efforts to sign a new attacking midfielder, having intensified contact over a deal for AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to a report from Italy (via Sport Witness).

Pellegrini, who is also being targeted by Tottenham, is set to be allowed to leave Roma for just €10m (£9m) this summer, making him a low-cost addition to Graham Potter’s squad, and the Irons have now made an approach.

Roma sporting director Frederic Massara has confirmed the decision to sanction the 29-year-old’s departure, saying: “As soon as I arrived, I informed Pellegrini that we would not be renewing his contract; it’s a decision we shared. For this reason, in order not to lose the player for free and because of Lorenzo’s wishes, we are seeing if there are opportunities for him.”

"Phenomenal" Pellegrini has impressive record at Roma

In many ways, it is a surprise that Roma have been unwilling to extend the Italian’s contract, given that the playmaker has been a regular source of goals and assists throughout his time with the club, chipping in with 114 goal contributions in 316 outings.

However, the Rome-born midfielder fell below his usual standards in the 2024-25 campaign, picking up just two goals and two assists in the Serie A, which suggests he may not be much of an upgrade on Paqueta.

That said, it could still be worth pursuing the 36-time Italy international, given that a deal would not break the bank, and the maestro is versatile, having regularly featured in both attacking and defensive midfield roles throughout his career so far.

As such, while West Ham shouldn’t sanction Paqueta’s departure, especially to Tottenham, Pellegrini could be a solid addition to Potter’s squad, which evidently needs a fresh injection of quality, given the torrid start to the campaign.

West Ham seal "world-class" signing with same agent as Fullkrug

West Ham United may have seen the transfer window come to a close, though they have concluded a surprise deal at the London Stadium as Graham Potter searches for unattached reinforcements.

West Ham look for togetherness with Premier League set to return

The Hammers have endured a mixed start to the Premier League campaign, and heavy defeats to Sunderland and Chelsea didn’t leave supporters feeling a great deal of optimism about what is to come.

However, a rousing 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground before the international break has stirred a little bit of excitement that West Ham could start to enter an upward trajectory, though Jarrod Bowen believes togetherness will be key to maintaining some form of momentum.

West Ham United's Jarrod Bowen, West Ham United's Tomas Soucek, West Ham United's Alphonse Areola and West Ham United's NayefAguerd

He stated: “It’s been an up and down couple of weeks,” he reflected. “The Premier League starting, you are on a high as you have waited so long for it. Then, to lose the way we did to Sunderland, followed by a defeat by Chelsea and one in the cup where we were in a good position to win the game was difficult.

“But I think the one thing we have got with this group is a real resilience and togetherness. You saw that at the weekend. I think everyone would have wrote us off at Nottingham Forest so to win 3-0, and it that could have been even more on another day, just shows that resilience to keep going even in the difficult times.”

Speculation over Potter’s position at West Ham has seen Frank Lampard mentioned as a potential successor. However, the former Brighton & Hove Albion is still firmly in charge, and will believe his side can string together a run of results in the English top-flight.

Still, his squad are short in a couple of positions, which has led Hammers chiefs to open talks over a deal for a veteran star who is known to supporters.

West Ham seal deal for Lukasz Fabianski

Despite his exit from the London Stadium this summer, West Ham have moved to bring Lukasz Fabianski back to the club on a free transfer following Wes Foderingham’s departure to join Aris Limassol.

Mads Hermansen and Alphonse Areola are the Irons’ only senior options between the sticks, creating a scenario where they have now drafted in their former stopper to fill the third-choice goalkeeper berth under Potter, with initial talks over a move reported by talkSPORT.

He would have solved their attacking problems…

ByTom Cunningham Sep 7, 2025

Labelled “world-class” by Don Hutchinson, Fabianski is now 40 years of age and has kept 55 clean sheets in 216 appearances for West Ham, becoming a reliable presence during seven years in East London.

In addition, he also shares the same ROOF agency as Niclas Fullkrug, which perhaps helped to hasten negotiations between all parties in recent days. The Polish veteran has signed on a deal until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Intriguingly, West Ham passed up the opportunity to sign Andre Onana on loan from Manchester United before the deadline passed last week, something that may have paved the way for their swoop to land Fabianski.

Chelsea ready to reignite interest in Juventus wonderkid after seeing €70m offer rejected

Chelsea are prepared to reignite their interest in Juventus sensation Kenan Yildiz as they look to bolster their attack. The Old Lady forward is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe. Chelsea have reportedly already seen one €70 million (£61m/$81m) offer rejected by the Serie A giants, who are understandably keen to retain the Turkey's international's services.

AFPContract renewal issues could pave way for Chelsea move

Yildiz is keen to extend his stay at Juventus, who are under no pressure to sell one of their prized assets. Indeed, the 20-year-old is contracted to the Turin powerhouse until 2029 and it would take a significant offer for the Serie A outfit to sell the forward.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport report that talks between Juventus and Yildiz's father-agent have slowed in recent times, which may pave the way for Chelsea to secure his services in the foreseeable future. The player's agent is requesting a higher wage having established himself as a key first team player, though Juventus are yet to bow to demands.

Even so, there is a desire for both parties to agree terms on a new deal with Yildiz widely considered one of the most talented young players in Europe.

AdvertisementChelsea have already seen one bid rejected

Despite a willingness to agree to a new deal, Chelsea are said to be monitoring Yildiz's situation in Italy closely. It's been reported that the Blues saw a €70m bid for the former Bayern trainee rejected outright over the summer by Juventus CEO Damien Comolli.

The Blues, though, are 'ready to attack' for Yildiz with another approach likely. Chelsea heavily invested on the frontline over the summer, signing Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho and Liam Delap, and loaning Facundo Buonanotte, while Brazilian prodigy Estevao officially joined earlier this year.

Even so, the west London side are looking to add to their young pool of talent in the final third, with Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto further options for head coach Enzo Maresca.

The Blues currently sit seventh in the Premier League table after taking 11 points from their opening seven games; they beat Liverpool 2-1 prior to the international break, and will hope to build on that when they face Nottingham Forest on October 18, once domestic duties resume.

Getty Images SportPremier League side not the only team interested in Yildiz

Chelsea, though, wouldn't have a straight shot at signing Yildiz should Juventus budge on their stance on the prodigious talent. La Liga giants Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the Turkey international as they look to invest out wide.

Barcelona are well stocked with left-sided options after the arrival of Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United, while Raphinha has established himself as one of the finest wide talents in Europe. It does remain to be seen whether the Blaugrana will seek to make Rashford's move permanent, while the La Liga champions are aware that Raphinha turns 29 in December and are looking to future proof their left flank.

Furthermore, Hansi Flick's side are seeking to unite Yildiz with Kopa Trophy 2025 winner Lamine Yamal to forge a destructive wing pairing as they aim to secure domestic and continental silverware in the future. Barcelona had hoped to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club over the summer, yet failed in their pursuit of the Spain international, and may turn their attention to Yildiz as a result.

Yildiz looking to fire Juve to glory

Yildiz has made a solid start to the season for Juventus having provided three assists and scored one goal; no player has registered more assists than Yildiz in Italy's top tier this term. Igor Tudor's side are one of two unbeaten sides after six games in Serie A, though Tudor has overseen three successive draws with his team currently fifth on 12 points.

Juventus return to domestic duties next weekend with a trip to high-flying Como. Cesc Fabregas' side have collected nine points in the opening weeks of the season, and are unbeaten in four following their 1-1 draw at Atalanta prior to the international break.

Nottingham Forest now in "advanced" talks to sign "exciting" £35m forward

Nottingham Forest are “pushing” to sign an “exciting” new forward, with talks over a deal now “advanced”, it has been revealed.

Forest set sights on new winger after missing out on Lukebakio

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Forest were willing to match Sevilla’s asking price for Dodi Lukebakio, with Nuno keen to add another winger to his squad before the 7pm deadline this evening, but the 27-year-old is now set to sign for Benfica.

As such, the Tricky Trees have been forced to move on to alternative options, with it being revealed that the deal for Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa is still alive, but the Frenchman is not the only option on the shortlist…

According to Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri on X, Nottingham Forest are now “pushing” to sign S.C. Braga winger Roger Fernandes, having now missed out on a deal for Lukebakio.

Talks with the Portuguese club are now at an “advanced” stage, with the Tricky Trees looking to get a deal over the line before Monday’s 7pm deadline.

Chelsea have also been named as potential suitors for Fernandes over the past few days, with the Blues reportedly weighing up whether to trigger the £35m release clause in his contract, but a move to the City Ground now looks like the most likely scenario.

Fernandes would be "exciting" Lukebakio alternative

Just 19-years-old, the Portuguese starlet has already been impressing in his home country for quite some time, with scout Jacek Kulig praising him for his performances in the 2023-24 Liga Portugal campaign.

The teenager is much younger than Lukebakio, who is 27, but he has outperformed the Belgian across a number of key attacking and defensive metrics over the course of the past year.

As such, there are clear signs the Braga ace could be a more well-rounded player than Lukebakio, and he already has a great deal of first-team experience under his belt, chipping in with 12 goals and 16 assists in 91 appearances for the Liga Portugal side.

Fernandes could be a fantastic signing for Nottingham Forest, so they should look to get a deal over the line quickly, before Chelsea decide to step up their interest.

ICC considering change to existing two-ball rule in ODI playing conditions

Boards will also consider, and provide feedback on, the implementation of a 60-second stop clock in Test cricket

Osman Samiuddin14-Apr-20259:21

Do ICC’s proposed ODI rule changes make sense?

The ICC is considering a change to the existing two-ball rule in its ODI playing conditions in a bid to restore some balance between bat and ball in the format. A recommendation was made at the ICC meetings in Harare this week to use only one ball from the 35th over of an innings. The recommendation was made by the ICC men’s cricket committee, headed by Sourav Ganguly, to board chief executives. Each innings will start with two new balls, as is the case now. But in the new recommendation, the fielding side will be allowed to select which ball they wish to carry on with after the 34th over, when both balls are 17 overs old. The ball that is not chosen will then be kept as the spare ball in case it is needed. The cricket committee had considered making the ball change earlier, after 25 overs. But ESPNcricinfo understands that did not find much favour within the committee, which felt using the balls for 17 overs before deciding which to continues with was more appropriate. Boards are expected to give their feedback on the tweak by the end of this month. If there is consensus, it will be formalised in the playing conditions most likely at the ICC’s annual general meeting in July. Because it is a playing-condition change, it will not need approval by the ICC’s board.Related

Cricket will go where the fans take it, and that's all right

The current rule was brought in by the ICC in October 2011, having been in place at various points in the past – including, most prominently, at the 1992 World Cup. For a few years until 2011, ODI playing conditions called for a mandatory ball change after the 34th over of an innings, when it would be replaced by a similarly used ball but one that was cleaner and easier to see (the rationale being that white balls were becoming increasingly difficult to spot for batters).A 60-second stop clock in Test cricket too?Boards will also consider, and provide feedback on, the implementation of a 60-second stop clock in Test cricket. That regulation, to combat slow over-rates, has been in place in T20Is and ODIs since last year, where teams running behind time are penalised in various ways, including by bringing one extra fielder within the 30-yard circle. There was also discussion in the committee about switching the Under-19 men’s World Cup, currently played in the 50-over format, to T20s. There was no clear consensus around that, however, with no great support. Such a change would, in any case, require formal approval by the ICC board.Members of the committee also discussed a bonus-points reward in the World Test Championship, though the prevalent view around that was it would be too complicated to implement.

West Ham source shares potentially imminent Graham Potter sack timeline

West Ham United manager Graham Potter could be sacked by the Hammers very shortly, on one condition, with a potential timeline shared by one media source.

Graham Potter under growing pressure in east London

This time last year, David Moyes’ replacement, Julen Lopetegui, was in a very similar situation to Potter as critics and supporters alike called for the Spaniard to be axed following a poor start to 2024/2025.

Now, his successor, Potter, is facing the same pressure. Under the former Chelsea boss, West Ham have recorded their second-worst win percentage since the Premier League’s inception, with Avram Grant’s relegated side from 2010/2011 coming as the only Hammers team to fare worse.

The east Londoners have also leaked goals left, right and centre — conceding more than any other top-flight outfit thus far — with Potter’s West Ham also looking extremely vulnerable when it comes to set pieces.

Potter did give himself some breathing room with an impressive 3-0 win away to Nottingham Forest, which turned out to be Nuno Espírito Santo’s final game in charge, and the Portuguese is now being linked to the West Ham job after leaving the City Ground.

As well as Nuno, ex-West Ham player Frank Lampard has been mentioned as a candidate to replace Potter, with other reports suggesting Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna was in attendance at the London Stadium during their 3-0 derby defeat to Spurs.

However, any hope of a blockbuster move for big-name serial winner José Mourinho is being quashed by the special one’s imminent move to Benfica, so if West Ham are to sack Potter, they’ll need to decide quickly and avoid the other best-possible free agents being snapped up by other clubs.

Taking that into account, West Ham chair David Sullivan is apparently keen to avoid another Lopetegui-style saga, amid a major concern he has behind-the-scenes.

When West Ham could sack Graham Potter and it may be imminent

That is according to Hammers News, who shared an update on Potter’s future via one of their sources.

West Ham United managerGrahamPotterbefore the match

The informant, as quoted by HN, reveals that West Ham could sack Potter if they lose to Crystal Palace this weekend.

The 50-year-old’s unceremonious departure would bring his stock down even further after he was sacked by Chelsea, with Potter’s stellar days growing Brighton into an established Premier League side far behind the tactician.

It would be hard to envisage Potter getting another immediate big job if he’s given a P45 after Saturday, but as we’ve seen with ex-West Ham hero Moyes, you can always bounce back in the long-term.
