Tottenham: Club Think They Can Steal Spurs Star After Talks

Bayern Munich are hoping to steal away Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane after being given encouragement in talks with his family, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

This how now lead to an official bid of €70m (£60m)plus add-ons, as per David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Will Harry Kane leave Spurs?

Another summer, another saga surrounding the future of Kane, coming two years after he was very heavily linked with an exit to treble-winning Premier League champions Man City.

The 29-year-old, who is out of contract in just over a year, is entering the final 12 months of his Spurs deal. While talks have been ongoing over an extension, according to reports, there is still no sign of an official announcement confirming fresh terms.

Kane, as a result, could leave the north London club for free in 2024 – a situation which has alerted many top clubs both domestically and abroad.

Manchester United, in their hunt to sign a star striker and guaranteed goal-getter for manager Erik ten Hag, have been credited with a serious interest in the forward.

Chelsea are also linked, but perhaps the real danger comes from Europe, with continental heavyweights Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain targeting Kane.

The aforementioned sides are after classic number nines to provide an injection of quality in the attacking areas, and Kane more-than fits the bill for them.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, though, appears determined to keep his prized asset and could demand as much as £100 million in one up front payment for the Lilywhites superstar.

Writing in a column for CaughtOffside, German transfer journalist Falk has shared an update on Kane's future, as Bayern are still hopeful they can somehow pull off a move.

This comes after talks with the player's family, who have given encouragement to Bayern that Kane could be open to joining them.

“Bayern are hoping to still sign Harry Kane this summer," wrote Falk.

"Thomas Tuchel is not just dreaming of one striker – he would love to have two new strikers, which is a big challenge for the bosses.

“Kane would be his No.1 target again. Perhaps the idea is playing with Kane on the 9 and Randal Kolo Muani.

“There are talks with Harry Kane’s family and I think they get the idea that he’s thinking about moving. The message from the Kane family is that he’s still thinking about going to the Bundesliga.”

Following this, Ornstein wrote in The Athletic: "Bayern Munich have submitted a formal offer for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The Bundesliga champions’ bid for the England captain is €70m (£60m) plus add-ons.

The 29-year-old has a year remaining on his current contract with the Premier League club."

How many goals has Harry Kane scored?

Kane, over a truly phenomenal career, has managed to become both Tottenham and England's all-time top goalscorers – racking up 280 for Spurs at club level and 58 for his country

The Three Lions star surpassed the legendary Jimmy Greaves to that landmark at Spurs, while Kane also usurped Wayne Rooney at the top of England's scoring charts.

If Bayern were to somehow steal the "world class" attacker away from Tottenham, it could be billed as the signing of this summer window.

Opener Abhimanyu Easwaran’s hundred helped Bengal cruise to their fourth consecutive win and consolidate their position at the top of the Group C points table. After Easwaran’s 127 lifted Bengal to 230, the bowlers shot out Mumbai for 134 in 36.2 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.Easwaran, who struck his third List A century, held firm even as wickets tumbled around him. Seamers Shardul Thakur and Abhishek Nayar did the bulk of the damage, claiming combined figures of 18.5-1-82-7. Easwaran, however, stitched fifty partnerships with Anustup Majumdar and Aamir Gani before he was the seventh Bengal batsman to be dismissed.Mumbai lost their openers within five overs and were seven down by the time they reached 100. Seamer Sayan Ghosh and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha ripped through the batting line-up with three wickets each. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 34 and while Siddhesh Lad (23) and Aditya Tare (20) got starts, Mumbai’s chase never really took off.File Photo – Parthiv Patel scored his third List A century•ESPNcricinfo Ltd

Andhra suffered a batting collapse to fold for 106 as Gujarat thumped them by 182 runs in Chennai. Captain Parthiv Patel was Gujarat’s hero, hitting 104 off 123 balls, including 11 fours. Rohit Dahiya played the sidekick with an unbeaten 39-ball 53 as Gujarat put up 288 for 7. Jasprit Bumrah (4 for 29) and Rujul Bhatt (3 for 21) then wrecked Andhra’s chase and bundled them out in 31.5 overs.Dwaraka Ravi Teja, coming in at 39 for 5, provided the lone source of resistance with 44 off 64 balls. In fact, he was the only Andhra batsman to pass 10.Having been sent in, Gujarat lost Priyank Panchal early, but Parthiv shared useful stands with Samit Gohel and Bhargav Merai to set a solid platform. By the time Parthiv was dismissed, Gujarat had reached 200. Jesal Karia and Dahiya then struck late blows to take their team past 280.Madhya Pradesh needed only 38.1 overs to chase down 291 against Goa in Chennai. Captain Naman Ojha powered the chase with an unbeaten 87-ball 105. He was well supported by Rajat Patidar (64 off 53 balls) and Harpreet Singh (83 off 60 balls) as MP completed their chase with seven wickets in hand.Ojha and Rajat Patidar laid the foundation with a 92-run opening stand off 83 balls. Ojha and Harpreet then pressed on to add 116 in 15.1 overs. Ojha struck six sixes and six fours en route to his eighth List A century.Goa had rebounded to reach 290 after being reduced to 23 for 2. Their captain Sagun Kamat (63 off 75 balls) and Suyash Prabhudessai (52 off 47 balls) hit half centuries, but it was Snehal Kauthankar’s 110-ball 94 that led Goa’s batting. Playing his fourth List A game, Kauthankar made his career-best score, but late wickets prevented Goa from reaching 300. Ankit Kushwah was the pick of the bowlers for MP, finishing with 5 for 60.

Spurs Could Ditch Lenglet Move For Sensational £13m Titan

Tottenham Hotspur are confident of luring Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo to the club, having short-listed the Premier League ace for transfer this summer.

That's according to Football Insider, who reported earlier this week that the 25-year-old could become a 'real option' for Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou as the window progresses.

With just one year left on his current deal with the Cottagers, Adarabioyo's departure is emerging as a very concrete possibility, and he could be available for as little as £13m.

Having failed to qualify for Europe this year, Tottenham have appointed Postecoglou from Scottish champions Celtic and are now making the requisite moves to steady the ship, and Adarabioyo is an astute way of enacting this.

How good is Tosin Adarabioyo?

Adarabioyo has made 107 appearances for Fulham since signing from Manchester City for around £2m in 2020, and has been hailed as "sensational" by Rahman Osman for his efforts in taking the club from the Championship and clinching tenth place in the English top-flight last season.

Given the relatively low fee involved in the prospective deal, Postecoglou would be wise to prioritise the transfer over Clement Lenglet, who has recently concluded his year-long loan spell from Barcelona and must not be signed over the Englishman.

Lenglet is reportedly available for 10m (£9m) this summer, with the Lilywhites said to have agreed personal terms with the 15-cap France international after he made 35 appearances for the London side over the 22/23 term.

So wide of the mark have his performances been that pundit Jamie O'Hara has branded the 28-year-old an "imposter", and given that Tottenham shipped 63 goals in the league last term en route to mediocrity, Lenglet is surely not the answer to the present quandary.

clement-lenglet-tottenham-hotspur-brooklyn-lyons-foster

As per Sofascore, the £145k-per-week ace recorded a lowly 6.65 rating across his 26 displays in the top flight, with his misfortune perhaps highlighted by one solitary clean sheet across the matches he featured.

Adarabioyo, comparatively, recorded a respectable rating of 6.89 as Fulham enjoyed a successful campaign, winning 69% of his aerial duels and remarkably forging 5.5 clearances per game.

Given that Postecoglou "brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play", according to club chairman Daniel Levy, defenders with an aptitude for sweeping away danger would complement the system when looking to track back and prevent dangerous opposition transitions.

Having even been hailed as "exceptional" by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Adarabioyo is an affordable option to bolster a backline in need of replenishing, and while he will not be expected to have a transformative effect on his own, alongside another well-placed acquisition Tottenham could be one step closer to firing across all cylinders once more.

Tottenham Eye Valverde 2.0 In "Highly Talented" £34m Gem

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race for Celta Vigo starlet, Gabri Veiga, with the promising playmaker having caught the eye following a breakout 2022/23 campaign in La Liga.

What are the latest Tottenham transfer rumours?

Following the news that Spurs have secured the signing of Israeli winger, Manor Solomon, French outlet Le10 Sport are now reporting that the Lilywhites are to set compete for the signing of the exciting Spaniard, with both Arsenal and Chelsea also in the mix for the 21-year-old's signature.

The Premier League trio are also likely to face interest from both Barcelona and Real Madrid in the battle to land the 6 foot 1 ace, according to The Guardian, with the youngster up for grabs for a fee of around €40m (£34m), due to the presence of a release clause in his existing contract.

This search for a new midfielder comes amid claims that Ange Postecoglou is set to allow Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to depart ahead of next season, with the Denmark international currently attracting interest from Atletico Madrid, as well as clubs in Germany.

What position does Gabri Veiga play?

The Spain youth international – who was recently part of the side that lost to England in the final of the U21 European Championship – has typically operated in an advanced midfield berth during his senior career to date, ensuring he could potentially slot in nicely into Postecoglou's preferred 4-3-3 formation.

federico-valverde-premier-league-liverpool-transfers

Lauded as "highly talented box-to-box midfielder" by talent scout Jacek Kulig, the emerging superstar appears to share a positional likeness to fellow La Liga ace, Federico Valverde, according to GOAL's Thomas Hindle, with the journalist previously writing:

'Both are tall athletic midfielders who like to shoot from distance, they share similar dribbling styles, and a remarkable versatility that could see them function in a number of different systems. And, like Valverde in Real Madrid's counter-attacking setup, Veiga is deadly on the break.'

The pair are both seemingly alike in being able to make an impact in the final third from their midfield berths, with Veiga having racked up 11 goals and four assists in 36 league games last term, with Valverde also impressing with seven goals and four assists from his 34 league outings in Spain's top-flight.

The comparison between the two men can also be made due to their ability to drive forward from deep with ease, with the Celta sensation ranking in the top 12% in Europe's top five leagues among those in his position for progressive carries, while the Madrid machine is just ahead as he ranks in the top 9% in that regard.

That likeness between Veiga and Valverde is noteworthy due to the latter man's standing as one of the finest in the game in his position, with BT Sport pundit Joe Cole suggesting back in November that the "box-to-box" ace is "on the verge of becoming the best".

The Uruguayan international was notably the "unsung hero" in Los Blancos' Champions League final triumph over Liverpool in 2022, as per Cole, having also been lauded as "untouchable" by manager, Carlo Ancelotti.

While young Veiga has a way to go to try and emulate the 24-year-old – having made just 55 appearances to date in his embryonic senior career – it would represent a real coup for Postecoglou if he could find his own version of the Madrid machine this summer.

Sky Sports: Spurs Make Contact To Sign Versatile £21.5m Player

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made contact with Juventus over a deal for Andrea Cambiaso.

What’s the latest Tottenham transfer news?

Spurs and new manager Ange Postecoglou have been busy in the transfer market so far ahead of the new 2023/24 Premier League season.

Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski have seen their respective loan moves become permanent in deals worth €40m and €30m from Sporting CP and Juventus. Meanwhile, James Maddison has arrived from Leicester City, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has joined from Empoli and left-winger Manor Solomon has signed for Spurs on a free transfer, taking the club's total current summer spend to €136m.

There could still be more to come, though, with speculation emerging on a new centre-back. Personal terms have reportedly been agreed with VfL Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, however, Tottenham and the German side appear to be £5m apart when it comes to agreeing on a fee.

Alongside a centre-back, another full-back could be on the cards for the north London side, with Cambiaso appearing to be a new target.

Sport Witness relayed an update from Sky Sports Italy in the last 48 hours regarding Spurs and Cambiaso. The report claims that Tottenham have been in contact with Juventus over a deal for Cambiaso, however, AC Milan are also interested in the player.

It is believed that Juventus have placed a €25m (£21.5m) price tag on Cambiaso’s shoulders and are showing a reluctance to sell this summer.

Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.

Who is Andrea Cambiaso?

Cambiaso is 23 years of age and appears to be at the top of his game with a career-high €8m Transfermarkt valuation. The Italy U21 international progressed through Genoa’s academy and made the move to Juventus last summer.

Sponsored by Adidas, Cambiaso is actually yet to make a senior appearance for Juventus, spending last season out on loan with Serie A side Bologna.

The player is primarily a left-back, however, he has made 20 or more appearances as a left-back, right-back, right midfielder, left midfielder and central midfielder, showing the versatility he could bring to Postecoglou’s side.

Cambiaso doesn’t actually have a weak foot and is noted as being two-footed by Transfermarkt, and he was a regular in Serie A last season, playing 32 times for Bologna.

However, any transfer could prove tricky to complete for Spurs, with the player’s agent recently saying it is 99.9% sure he will remain at Juventus this summer.

“It is very pleasing to be linked to an important team like Fiorentina, it is flattering. However, 99.9% he will return to Juventus and stay there based on what we have been told. There are other interested teams like Bologna as well. But Juventus has informed us that they have no intention of letting him go.

“He would like some playing time, and I believe he could also find it at Juventus because he demonstrated his full potential last season.”

By the looks of things, though, a move to north London could be one to keep an eye on over the coming weeks, with Spurs making their first move by enquiring about Cambiaso’s situation.

Mohammad Nawaz given two-month suspension

Pakistan left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz has been suspended for two months after admitting to the PCB’s charge of failing to report a suspect approach

ESPNcricinfo staff17-May-2017Pakistan left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz has been suspended for two months after admitting to the PCB’s charge of failing to report a suspect approach. Nawaz’s suspension is effective from May 16, but he can return to cricket after one month provided he fulfills criteria set by the Pakistan board.Nawaz’s player contract with the PCB was suspended, and he was also fined 200,000 Pakistani rupees. Among other conditions set by the PCB are that Nawaz should not be found in further breach of the PCB’s anti-corruption code, and that he should take part in the board’s anti-corruption education programmes.”I have made the mistake of reporting with delay the approach that was made to me,” Nawaz said in a statement after he was punished. “I refused the offer and didn’t do anything ethically wrong.”The anti-corruption proceedings against Nawaz began on May 8, when he was summoned by the PCB for a possible breach of the code. He was issued a demand notice and asked to appear before the board’s Vigilance and Security Department. The PCB said that Nawaz, on May 15, had approached the board and requested for a meeting, and the board had asked him to submit a letter stating his version of events regarding the alleged breach.”Nawaz submitted his written statement admitting the charges levelled against him by PCB and appeared for subsequent meetings with PCB on 16th May 2017 to properly explain his case,” the PCB said.Nawaz was the seventh Pakistan player to come under the PCB’s scanner during the ongoing investigation into corruption that emerged during the second season of the Pakistan Super League in February and March. Six others are either facing charges of corruption, or have been banned, or were questioned by the PCB. Proceedings against Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed and Shahzaib Hassan are underway; Mohammad Irfan was suspended for a year; and Zulfiqar Babar was questioned.Nawaz, 23, has played three Tests, nine ODIs and 5 T20Is in the last seven months, and he was in Pakistan’s T20I squad for the tour of the Caribbean, though he didn’t play.

Man Utd Could Land Zlatan 2.0 In £70m "Monster"

In news that came as little surprise to anyone, Manchester United recently announced the departure of January loan arrival, Wout Weghorst, with it looking unlikely that the towering Dutchman will be making a return to Old Trafford on a permanent deal any time soon.

Having been signed to help provide Erik ten Hag's side with further firepower following the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Burnley giant went on to score just twice in 31 games in all competitions in the second half of last sesson, with arguably his most telling contribution seeing him provide an assist for Marcus Rashford in Febuary's Carabao Cup final triumph.

With the 30-year-old's inevitable exit now leaving injury-prone asset Anthony Martial – who made just 29 appearances last term – as the Red Devils' only senior out-and-out striker, it is no surprise that the signing of a new centre-forward remains the "priority" for Ten Hag, according to The Athletic's Laurie Whitwell.

One potential target that has been suggested of late is Juventus powerhouse, Dusan Vlahovic, with reports in Italy claiming that the Old Trafford outfit have made contact with the Serbian's agent regarding a possible summer swoop.

The former Fiorentina ace – who only made the move to Turin on a £66.6m deal back in January 2022 – was reportedly the subject of a £70m bid from Chelsea earlier in the window, with a move away from the Allianz Stadium potentially on the cards.

The 23-year-old – who has scored 72 goals in 171 games during his time in Italy to date – could well be the striking "monster" that United are craving, as hailed by journalist Carlo Garganese, helping to ensure an end to the club's current centre-forward woes.

Intriguingly, the 6 foot 3 ace has previously been described as the 'new Zlatan Ibrahmovic', with the hope being that the Belgrade native can replicate the impact that the enigmatic marksman had at the Theatre of Dreams.

How good was Ibrahimovic at Man United?

Also a towering presence like United's current target, the 6 foot 5 Swede was snapped up on a free transfer during Jose Mourinho's first summer in charge back in 2016, having previously enjoyed a glittering career prior to that at the likes of Inter Milan, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as with Vlahovic's current side, Juve.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Man United

Despite having been 34 at the time of his arrival in England, the recently-retired hitman proved an instant hit in his new surroundings, scoring on debut to clinch victory over Leicester City in the Community Shield.

While an ACL blow would ultimately curtail his impact in Mourinho's side late on in that 2016/17 campaign, the Malmo-born menace still managed to rack up a stellar haul of 28 goals and ten assists in 44 outings, before netting once more the following season after making a brief return from injury.

Not only was Ibrahimovic an undoubtedly clinical presence when leading the line, but in his own words he was also something of an "animal", utilising his imposing frame to bully defenders and make a real nuisance of himself through the middle.

Much like the ex-AC Milan man – who Mourinho lauded as a "fighter" – Vlahovic also appears to possess remarkable strength and power in attack, with the aforementioned Garganase stating it is "scary how strong he is" as he "fights three defenders at a time".

For United to again have a real focal point in the side who can also deliver the goods in front of goal would surely be a dream, with the hope being that the Juve star can follow in Ibrahimovic's footsteps and make a smooth transition to life at United.

Liddle's intervention turns match on its head

ScorecardChris Liddle’s five wickets stymied Kent’s run chase•Getty Images

Chris Liddle turned Gloucestershire’s Royal London Cup tie against Kent on its head as they claimed an unlikely win over Kent by 12 runs in glorious Bristol sunshine.Michael Klinger’s 134 looked to have paved the way for a challenging Gloucestershire total after they have been asked to bat first. But a flurry of late wickets saw Matt Coles finish with 4 for 57 and hosts restricted to 275 for 8, no more than a par score in the conditions. It didn’t look like enough as Daniel Bell-Drummond followed up his tons against Somerset and Sussex with 90 off 108 balls. With Sean Dickson and Sam Northeast lending good support, Kent looked to be cruising. But Liddle had other ideas and, from 200 for 2 in the 39th over, he bowled a telling spell from the Ashley Down Road End as the visitors collapsed spectacularly, closing on 264 for 9.The win was Gloucestershire’s second in the competition and kept alive their slim hopes of a top three finish in the South Group, while Kent must accept elimination before the knockout stage, having won only one of their first five games.Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson said: “It wasn’t until late in the day that I felt we had a chance of winning. I’ll take the victory even though I’m not quite sure how it happened.”It was a battle and Chris changed the game with one spell. He varied his pace really well was smart in how he bowled his cutters.”We kept going and once we got a sniff we were good enough to capitalise on it. It keeps us in the competition and makes Friday’s home game with Somerset even more appetising.”Klinger could hardly have done more, reaching his 16th List A hundred off 123 balls to help take the home side’s score to 260 for 3 before he was out.The 36-year-old Australian hit three of his sixes into the flats at the Ashley Down Road End of the Brightside Ground, his favourite one-day shot at the venue, and progressed with increasing assurance on an excellent batting pitch.Chris Dent and Ian Cockbain shared useful partnerships, but when Klinger was caught at deep mid-wicket off Joe Denly it signalled a rapid transformation in fortunes.Far from building on their captain’s efforts with some big hitting at the end, Gloucestershire lost five wickets in less than two overs as Coles and James Harris put themselves on hat-tricks.With the sun still shining in a cloudless sky, a target of 276 did not appear looked likely to test Kent’s strong batting line-up.They lost Joe Denly to a careless shot off Liddle with the total on 64, but Bell-Drummond, who survived a couple of early scares, and Dickson then put together a stand of 89 in 17.3 overs.Dickson perished the ball after reaching a 62-ball half-century, picking out George Haskins at deep mid-wicket to give left-arm spinner Tom Smith a wicket. By the time Bell-Drummond was brilliantly caught low down by Klinger at extra-cover off Liddle, Kent had posted 200 and needed a further 76 from 11.4 overs.Northeast was established and playing well. His fourth six, over long-on off Jack Taylor was one of the biggest of the match.Darren Stevens was visibly angry with himself when caught behind off Liddle trying to run the ball down to third-man and at 217 for 4, Kent were suddenly far from comfortable.Soon it was Northeast trudging back to the pavilion having smashed Liddle straight to long-on where Jack Taylor took the catch. From looking in total command, the visitors were suddenly under pressure at 220 for 5.More poor shots accounted for Matt Coles and Alex Blake and Gloucestershire sensed their chance. The Kent tail-enders flailed wildly without success and the game headed for an unlikely outcome.
